Support TSO at Annual Gala

On Sept. 17, Hotel Murano’s Bicentennial Pavilion will be transformed into an Austrian paradise as the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra hosts its annual gala, “A Night in Vienna.” Guests will enjoy a gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, a champagne toast and samples of the premium beer Stella Artois. Medieval purity combines with modern art in Mineral’s second exploration of chastity belts

Those who attended Mineral Gallery’s first annual chastity belt show last summer, “Entrance Denied,” remember the ways in which Northwest artists took a spin on the medieval instrument and made the object witty, thoughtful and bold. The second round of belts in this year’s take on the theme, “Access Denied,” gives a whole new group of artists the chance to tackle creating contemporary versions of the archaic accessory. R&B sensation Brian McKnight brings his soulful sound to Tacoma

Brian McKnight has earned himself a spot in contemporary music history. McKnight’s musical career began in childhood in Buffalo, New York, when he became a member of his church, NY choir and a bandleader for his high school, Sweet Home High School. In 1987, McKnight’s older brother, Claude, and his band, Take 6, signed a record deal with Warner Brothers. This encouraged McKnight to shop his own demo tapes and by the age of 19, he’d signed his first recording deal with Mercury Records subsidiary Wing Records (McKnight ended up recording his albums for Mercury).
