Support TSO at Annual Gala

On Sept. 17, Hotel Murano’s Bicentennial Pavilion will be transformed into an Austrian paradise as the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra hosts its annual gala, “A Night in Vienna.” Guests will enjoy a gourmet dinner, live and silent auctions, a champagne toast and samples of the premium beer Stella Artois. Medieval purity combines with modern art in Mineral’s second exploration of chastity belts

Those who attended Mineral Gallery’s first annual chastity belt show last summer, “Entrance Denied,” remember the ways in which Northwest artists took a spin on the medieval instrument and made the object witty, thoughtful and bold. The second round of belts in this year’s take on the theme, “Access Denied,” gives a whole new group of artists the chance to tackle creating contemporary versions of the archaic accessory. Young performers showcase the best of Broadway at Lakewood Playhouse

A thoroughly charming evening was had by all at Lakewood Playhouse’s opening weekend of “The Best of Musical Broadway” (otherwise known tongue-in-cheek as “BOMB”). Starring a cast of 35 young students, 10 to 18 years old, from Lakewood’s summer theater program, this show is highly entertaining from beginning to end. What’s more is that some of the budding talents in “BOMB” are making their public debut in this show and are sure to be seen on Tacoma stages in productions to come. LeMay Car Museum to host 33rd annual Car Show and Auction

LeMay, America’s Car Museum, has partnered with the LeMay family to host the 33rd annual LeMay Car Show and Auction at Marymount Academy and the LeMay home grounds Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors will see more than 1,000 different vintage, specialty automobiles, trucks and motorcycles from the LeMay collection, plus hundreds of local collector cars and other unique vehicles. In addition to the cars, there will be numerous automobile-related vendor displays, the Collector Car Showcase, a judged car show, food vendors and a collector car auction hosted by Mathers Inc.
