Agencies hone their skills during rescue drill

It was a Saturday afternoon. Sunshine drew many people to Commencement Bay in boats, where they shared the water with wind surfers and jet skis. Eight boats rafted together as the occupants enjoyed themselves. Several of the boaters notice two speed boats that appear to be racing, heading toward them at a high rate of speed. The operator of one of the speedboats loses control and crashes into the rafted boats, impacting three of them. The other one flees the scene. Numerous people are in the water. One of the boats is on fire, with the threat of it spreading to others. The number and extent of injuries is unknown. Firefighters, police officers and the U.S. Coast Guard are on their way. Foundation plans H.O.P.E.S. Center in memory of Anthony T. McCane

Sometimes heroes come in a most unlikely form. Such is the case with Anthony Troy McCane. McCane made some bad choices in his life – gangs, drugs…the street life drew him in. A drug transaction gone wrong led to him being shot and paralyzed in 2002, confined to a wheelchair. The 34-year-old died of complications from pneumonia just three months ago, leaving behind his wife Larissa and three children. Read more...

Bruce Titus Automotive Group hosted the Pierce County Cougar Tailgate at Bruce Titus Subaru/Nissan on South Tacoma Way on June 3.
